Often we spend too much time being busy and not enough on being what God calls us to be. Jesus calls us to BE BORN AGAIN first, but throughout scripture we are called to be so much more as we grow in our relationship with Christ.

“Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.” 1 John 3:2

John 3:2 text with water color honey bee

I love this scripture.

1 John gives us so much hope! Remember, although we are far from being there yet, we know one day we will be like Jesus.

In the meantime, God is working in us in a process called sanctification. He is changing us into what He called us to be. He does the work in us, but we submit to His leading and strive to follow Jesus closely.

Read the next verse:

“And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.” 1 John 3:3

God enables us to work as God works in us.

Let’s spend this year focusing on what God calls us to be so that our doing overflows from who/what we are being.

Here are just a few of the things scriptures tells us God calls us to be:

We are called to BE over and over in scripture.

Maybe we should just choose the simple word BE as our word for the year. Those two little letters encompass so much!

Remember, through Jesus we ARE children of God, but oh, the glory of what we will BE that hasn’t appeared yet. We will see Jesus and be like our Savior.

This year I created Called to Bee . . . resources to help you focus on who/what God calls you to be. Check out the Called to Bee . . . bee-themed calendar, planner, journal, and wall art. Each is available for purchase separately, or bundle and save

My favorite of the bundle is the Called to Bee . . . Bible study and Prayer Journal. It includes a suggested use guide and 60 days of journaling pages, each with a “be” focus phrase and related scripture.
