joyThe joy of the Lord is your [my] strength. Nehemiah 8:10

Some days joy is hard. I don’t want to get out of bed. Don’t want to cook breakfast. Don’t want to referee fighting children. Don’t want to do my own chores, much less try to get my children to do theirs.

Some days I just don’t have the strength for the everyday tasks of motherhood.

Then I remember, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” The JOY of the Lord is my strength. The joy of the LORD is my strength. The joy of the Lord is my STRENGTH.

His joy strengthens me on the hard days. Those days that are only hard in my own mind, because of my own heart. And also those days that truly include the hard circumstances of life.

So many days, like today, I fail, but when my children are grown I want them to remember a mother who lived with His joy.

Wow, five minutes went by fast! This is my first try at writing for the Five-Minute Friday challenge. EnJOY!

  • Hello! I’m your neighbor over here at FMF. Welcome and so and so glad you found courage to do this. You mentioned it being your first time of posting here.
I really enjoyed reading what you had to share…and I can agree. Some days are really, really hard. But through it all I want to still have JOY.

    • Thanks so much for the encouragement! I hope joining Five Minute Friday will help me start writing regularly and finally developing my blog.
