joy

The joy of the Lord is your [my] strength. Nehemiah 8:10

Some days joy is hard. I don’t want to get out of bed. Don’t want to cook breakfast. Don’t want to referee fighting children. Don’t want to do my own chores, much less try to get my children to do theirs.

Some days I just don’t have the strength for the everyday tasks of motherhood.

Then I remember, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” The JOY of the Lord is my strength. The joy of the LORD is my strength. The joy of the Lord is my STRENGTH.

His joy strengthens me on the hard days. Those days that are only hard in my own mind, because of my own heart. And also those days that truly include the hard circumstances of life.

So many days, like today, I fail, but when my children are grown I want them to remember a mother who lived with His joy.
